The Areograph Process

Overview

Areograph technology lets you build 3D virtual environments from photos or renders. The resulting simulation is fluid and totally realistic, without requiring a high-end computer to run it.

Depending on the application, the process starts with building a detailed model of the camera and lens to be used. Next the photos are taken - hundreds or thousands as necessary - the more photos, the more detailed the model. Then the photos are analyzed and a 3D model is automatically generated from information in the photos.

Finally, the resulting file is run through a supported playback application which dynamically accesses the library of photos (or rendered stills) and integrates them with the mesh data. This means the areographed model looks exactly the same as the original real-life location.

Areo can provide a full solution including capture, rendering and playback, or parts of it can fit in with your existing production pipeline - such as only providing a 3D mesh for use with traditional texture mapping.
